Gullfoss Waterfalls
Gullfoss Waterfalls, is one of the most popular attractions in the country. It is located in the broad bed of the Hvítá River, which flows to the south and one kilometer from the waterfall it turns sharply to the east, falling on three curved steps. At that time it falls in two jumps (11 and 21 meters) in a crack of 32 meters deep, measuring about 20 meters wide and 2.5 kilometers long. The average flow in this cataract is 140 cubic meters per second in summer and 80 in winter. The maximum measured water flow is 2,000 cubic meters.
